Ph.D. Program in Oceanography and Global Change at the Canary Islands, Spain
Studies of coastal upwelling in different regions of the world, with special emphasis on coastal upwelling off northwest Africa. Its complex dynamic is affected by various elements: the wind variability, width of the ocean shelf and topographic features, coupling with the eastern boudary current, mesoscale structures and frontal systems between different water masses. One of the main aspects for studying is the transport of the nutrients from coastal upwelled waters to the open ocean.
