Global change and landscape planning

The objective of this line is to analyse the impact of land use (agricultural, tourist, residential, etc.) in the global change. The studies are focused on island systems, considering the environmental consequences of processes (desertification, artificiality, etc.) derived from territorial changes (agricultural abandonment, littoralisation, etc.).

The dynamics of landscape are investigated and how the territorial planning has influenced on it. Planning models that apply sustainability criteria are also studied, with particular attention to the conservation and enhancement of natural and cultural heritage. Geographical techniques (GIS) are combined with other derived from participatory planning and integrated management (governance).
